All prayer and activities suspended or postponed

Based on recent guidelines being put forth by county and federal health officials for Santa Clara county; we held an emergency meeting yesterday evening in our Masjid to discuss how to move forward. In consultation with our local Scholars, Dr’s, other local Masaajid and community members we have decided to suspend Juma Prayer effective immediately and postpone all classes and programs taking place in the Masjid until further notice.   We should remember that our intention in taking these steps is to mitigate the spread of this virus.  In light of this and since our county has been hit particularly hard, we should NOT go to other Masaajid for Juma Prayer and should perform Dhur Prayer.  This is in accordance to what we learn from the following Hadith:  Sa’d (Radiyallahu Anhu) narrates from Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم, “If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; and if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave from it.” (Sahih Al- Bukhari: 5728) These are not easy decisions that we are faced with and we ask Allah Ta’ala to protect us, guide us and accept our efforts.  Aameen.  Masjid Darus Salaam (Al Hilaal) Board
